CW3E Welcomes Dr. Mohammad H. Erfani

Mohammad H. Erfani joined CW3E in Feb 2026 as a Machine Learning Scientist. His work focuses on the development of artificial intelligence (AI)–driven weather prediction models for modeling, analyzing, and predicting extreme weather events and their impacts on water supply and flooding.

Prior to joining CW3E, Mohammad was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) and the Center for Climate Systems Research (CCSR) at Columbia University, where his research focused on integrating machine learning into hydrologic and Earth system models. Mohammad holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering, from the University of South Carolina.
