Summary

Partial Telemetry Upgrade / Adolfo's Box Cutter Incident

Details

Sarah Burnett / Adolfo Lopez-Miranda / Ava Cooper 9:00am PST

9:15am PST staff plate reading: 3.68ft

Adolfo immediately sliced his hand open (by accident) with the box cutter while trying to cut the flex conduit in Gary's driveway.

Sarah had grabbed the solinst levellogger, but was interrupted by the trip to the ER, so there are extra datapoints where the logger was logging but not in the water.

After returning in the afternoon, we temporarily installed the HOBOlink on the tree and put the new pressure sensor in the stilling well, and attached the conduit to the wall with one concrete anchor.

Sarah noted that upon arrival the stilling well was slightly loose (could move up and down ~1in), and the hose clamp holding the inner sleeve in place was not tightened. Also noted that the clamp holding the inner sleeve in place at the bottom of the stilling well is tightened with zip ties, instead of a bolt/nut.

Dec. 2, 2024: NOTE: LARGE STRAINGER JUST DOWNSTREAM OF STILLING WELL. There is a big log stuck on the pylon with the trail cam on it, right next to where we normally enter the water on the NE bank. Do not enter water there if the water is moving and it is still there.
