CMC is located on the campus of Colorado Mountain College Steamboat Springs, approximately 1 mile NW of Steamboat Springs, CO. The station is located on a moderate W/SW facing slope in a clearing between clusters of Gambel Oak. The soil is soft and loamy at the surface, with lots of roots from scrub vegetation in the clearing. At depth, the soil is denser and more clay-rich.
