Summary
Replaced antenna on towerDetails
Personnel: Douglas Alden
Troubleshooting Note
- 2.4 GHz spread spectrum radio modems are used to transmit data from the DL4-Met to a rugged computer in the profiler trailer. The trailer is aluminum and has a small window in the door through which RF energy can pass. Data throughput is spotty. A 3dB omnidirectional antenna is mounted on a cross arm on the tower.
-
The 3dB omnidirectional antenna was replaced with a 14dB directional antenna (
HG2414D
) and the radio in the trailer was moved slightly south to provide a clearer line of sight through the trailer window greatly improving data throughput.
